Reviews - What do our customers think?
 | Good study book for HS seniors and college students too! Sep 24, 2007 |
| We recently completed a series for our high school seniors and vacationing college students at our church on career choices. Juggling the realities of a "dog eat dog" career world, and living by faith appears to be a dichotomy that cannot be bridged. The Rat, the Race, and the Cage Christian Edition gives a faith-based perspective on career movement, choices, and finding joy in what you do to earn a living. I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs to critically evaluate their current career situation and how to move forward with their career choices. | | | | Learn how to navigate your next job change... Feb 27, 2007 |
Having recently switched jobs and agonized over all the decisions that come with leaving a job you like for the unknown, this book resonated particularly well with me.
While there are no shortage of career guidebooks available in the market, there are none that offer such a quantitative, rigorous approach to determining not only what industry you are best suited for, but also the specific functions and bosses you will respond best to. Using a method that can best be described as Socratic--complete with a litany of questions that force introspection--the author does a fine job of helping the reader unpack what, exactly, will satisfy them in the workplace, and how to get there.
The writing is strong, and the book is (very thankfully) concise and to the point. It could have benefited from a few more real-world examples to help illustrate successful career changes, but it's clear that the author choose an approach that enabled him to speak to a broader audience. And, for all intents and purposes, the style does the substance a lot of justice.
Well worth the read if you are considering switching jobs anytime soon. | | | | A must read before considering a job change: Feb 19, 2007 |
| The Rat, The Race and the Cage is a quick and easy read and provides many great lessons to think about before considering a job change. If you are unsatisfied with your current profession, industry or company, this book provides plenty of good advice for real world experiences. The spiritual devotions edition is a perfect companion for Christians that also look for guidance in their faith. I highly recommend it. | | | Write your own review about Rat, The Race, And The Cage, The (Christian Edition): A Simple Way To Guarantee Job Satisfaction and Success
