 | Amish Houses & Barns Mar 12, 2004 |
| While the title of this book suggests the obvious--that it deals with the houses and barns of the Amish--there is much more to it. After a cursory discussion of Amish architectural preferences, the author focuses on three Amish farms to give the reader a better sense of how Amish farmsteads and farming practices have evolved. These accounts are, however, largely genealogical. Overall, the book is very enlightening and informative; it is written in a clear and refreshingly lucid manner, and contains numerous black & white photographs of homes, farm buildings and equipment--and, in some cases, livestock. Truly a pleasure to read. | | | Write your own review about Amish Houses And Barns (People's Place Book, No 11)
