Item Description... Overview Presents a collection of monologues for competitive auditions and studio exercises.
Publishers Description The monologs in this new text are highly original works not found in other published versions. All are from very recently produced plays from both established and emerging new writers. The fifty selections are specifically suited to auditioning. The monologs in this collection are for actors 15 to 30 years of age, suitable for competitive auditioning, class or studio work, or general reading. About two-thirds of the selections are for women, and about one-third are specifically for minority actors. These monologs address the major trends and conflicts of today, through revealing glimpses of society as we know it. Includes the work of forty-seven contemporary American playwrights. A must for any auditioning actor or theatre student. Featuring monologs from: Retro and Sea of Forms by Megan Terry, Voice of the Prairie by John Olive, Night Luster by Laura Harrington, Stuck by Adele Edling Shank, Punk Girls by Elizabeth Wong, Sunday Sermon by David Henry Hwang, Abingdon Square by Maria Irene Formes, Les Trois Dumas by Charles Smith, Prodigal Kiss by Caridad Svich, Rough Stock by Ric Averill and many more. |

 | No help whatsoever Apr 26, 2006 |
| This book did not help me at all. I am a young teen actress and I did not find any good monologues. A lot of them were for older actresses and actors and were really religous, talked about sex, or were just really disturbing or boring. Even though it says student, it is more for adults. I really want to return this book. It was a waste of my parents money. If I could, I would give it no stars. The beginning does give some helpful information about monolgues, but it gets really boring to read. DONT make the same mistake I made. The other reviews said it was really good, but trust me, it's not. | | | | good book Mar 30, 2003 |

| I had less than a week and a half to find a monolog and was having no luck till i picked this up in the school library. Wow! what a great book! i found the trouble was to pick one! this is an incredible book and i recomend it to anyone. please note that thesemonologs are from plays, so if thats what the director wanted then this is a great book to pick from. I was hooked by the first 5! | | | | Good Book Jan 17, 2001 |
