The four books that began Goofyfoot Gurl were incredible--Amazing art and writing just as the other books Realbuzz Studios came out with. I was very excited to get my hands on the next edition--but now I think, perhaps it would had been better left alone.
The first thing that I noticed was that the art was different. At first I couldn't quite figure it out--the characters looked stiff and the same. Where Tony Weinstock, the artist of the first four, had a way of making beautiful flow and characters different, this art looks forced. All the men have the same body type, all the women have the same body type. I did not immediately recognize Scott, Ray, Beau, Zachai, or Suki's parents. I felt like I had lost many good friends.
Though the script flow and reactions were what I had expected, it didn't feel the same because the characters looked so different. Even a scene where Zachai kisses Pooja, it looked dorky and forced.
The colorist was still the same, and she does a beautiful job, but I think it was more beautiful with Tony as the "Hot Dogger".
If you are intent on owning every book in the Goofyfoot Gurl series, buy this book. But if you value the series for the characters, like I did, pass on this book. You won't be missing anything. | | | Write your own review about Road Surf: Goofyfoot Gurl #5
