About the Book

Not many of us would have the desire or capability to undertake such a significant expedition as described in Putting A Face on America. These women walked across America, representing each one of us. On this trek, they had unique opportunities to meet an amazing variety of fellow citizens throughout rural America.

Their experiences, related in this book, of meeting and sharing their faith really "puts a face on America." As Lyn, Joni and Samantha describe their personal encounters with transparency, honesty and candor, you, too, will begin to understand the rural people of America. You will laugh with them at the humorous experiences--and cry with them, as you see God's provision.

Put on your walking shoes and go across America one experience at a time. You, too, can continue these encounters by adding your prayers for those the ladies met along the way.

I especially appreciated the examples and guidelines that each of us can follow to pray for the Lord's leading and guidance for unknown people. Just picture waving at every car, truck and train, and with each wave goes a prayer for the driver and occupants of that vehicle. Or to pray for a specific town: for it's leaders, schools, youth, and safety for all.

"To God Be The Glory" was their theme as they traversed this great nation. They humbly proclaim that only through God's direction, planning, strength and provision were they able to accomplish this Journey. Many times throughout the Journey, God changed their plans. Lessons were learned as they set "their" plans aside and acquiesced to God's superior plans.

They walked these 4,026 miles for you and for me. I couldn't walk that far--not even across California--but I can meet this multitude of people and get to know them through the encounters described in Putting A Face On America.
