Item Description...
Product Description In Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Fitzwilliam Darcy fails to inform the populace of Meryton about the danger posed by having a rake such as George Wickham living in their midst. This was done to protect the reputation of his beloved sister; a sister who he fortunately prevented from eloping with the man. This failure leads to heartache for him and the family of the woman he loved. In Fate and Consequences, Georgiana Darcy does leave with George Wickham to elope. Darcy finds her in time to prevent the wedding, but not in time to stop the news of her ruin from spreading. Now a humbled man, he must try to find his and his sister's place in society. A twist of Fate introduces him at his darkest hour to the woman he otherwise might have resisted loving, and who helps him to restore his sister, and his wounded soul. This is a what-if story of love and reconciliation. This story ontains mature themes. Linda Wells is also the author of Chance Encounters and Perfect Fit.

Too much sex or too way out!. The characters turn into someone unknown. Darcy is an absolute sex fiend out of control after being Mr. Cold fish, and Elizabeth turns into a sex puppet! WOW!. I am still looking for the PP sequel of my dreams. While it is true that Ms. Austen's knowledge of sex was probably null at the time she wrote the book, she did have a keen eye for social and human interactions. She clearly presented us two passionate and intelligent individuals: Darcy and Elizabeth, if not their sensual nature in any detail because she just lacked the knowledge. I think we all want to know more and even explore other alternatives, to include sexual tension and some slips, and even see how their sexuality developed, but not at the cost of the essence of Darcy and Elizabeth. | | | | It was love.... Linda Wells story Fate & Consequences shows us a Darcy and Elizabeth who are deeply in love. No angst between them. All problems are created by others. But D&E are dedicated to each other. Nothing will separerate them. The consequences of growing up in a house without being loved are great. That is the reason for Georgiana's BIG mistake, and Darcy longing for warmth. Elizabeth is as always loyal to those she loves. Together they can handle all and find their own way to happiness. I just finished the book - I think for the third time. I still like it. I would love to read a sequel to this story. | | | | Another wonderful story Sep 20, 2009 |
| I recommend this book and also her other book, Chance Encounters WHOLEHEATEDLY!!! No one writes the love between Darcy and Lizzy better than this author. You will not regret buying either of these books. Chance Encounters (as I reveiwed) is one of the most romantic versions of the storyline that I have ever read. Now Fate and Consquenses, well another one. Ms. Wells writing is so excellent, she pulls me into her stories, I'm on those pages. You won't find a better read. | | | | Wonderful Romance Aug 4, 2009 |
I loved this story from the very beginning. Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth are drawn to each other and circumstances are such that they are able to become acquainted without the problems they incur in the original Pride and Prejudice story. Very absorbing book that takes the reader on fantasy "what if". If you love a sexy, romantic story, this book is for you. Trust me, you will love it. | | | | An Excellent Read Jul 22, 2009 |
In my review of "Chance Encounters" I got on Ms. Wells' back for needing an editor. Fortunately, she's fixed most (but not all) of her problems in this work. From a technical standpoint, "Fate and Consequences" was much easier to read.
I must agree with many of the other reviewers that these characters are NOT the same as those from Jane Austen's original ... they are better in their own way. For instance, I liked Darcy as a real human being, able to display emotions, and not the stiff character strutting around like an automaton in P&P. Of course, there's a big downside to Ms. Wells approach, and that is the total absence of conflict within the two primary characters in the love story, the lovers themselves. This leads Ms. Wells to Mr. Wickham, Miss Bingley, and (surprise) John Lucas as her antagonistic characters, and they must be much stronger antagonists, i.e., much more evil, than is their want in P&P. I have to hand it to Jane, at least she understood the value of antagonism inside the love story itself, which apparently Ms. Wells does not. This is the primary fault in "Fate and Consequences."
All that said, I loved this book, and if you will drop your P&P pretensions and just let go with a variation to the story we love, you will find you can't turn the pages fast enough, and become lost in this sweet, sweet love story. I'll tell you this, my "seeing" Mrs. Bennet go toe-to-toe with Lady Catherine was worth the price of admission to "Fate and Consequences" all by itself. | | | Write your own review about Fate And Consequences: A Tale Of Pride And Prejudice
