A Foreknown Love is a magical story with a spirited heroine and a hero one can easily admire, a true gentleman.
This novel starts out at the steps of an orphanage where seven girls with astonishing powers have been abandoned. With a sense of mystery and the atmosphere of a Gothic novel, the beginning draws a reader in. Excellent setting--Victorian London. And what's to come? The heroine, Juliet, is a witch who had been born with her interesting powers. She will be called upon to use her abilities.
Juliet experienced a tragedy and flees London with the intention of living a new life. The hero, Anthony Treyworth, an Earl, comes onto the scene. He's a memorable hero with an exciting background, and of course, very handsome and charming. He goes to Scotland Yard to help them solve a perplexing case.
A killer is out there. Who can help Anthony? He goes to Juliet, and the sparks fly. Their romance is both tender and passionate and unrolls with the exciting backdrop of a looming murderer on the loose.
A Foreknown Love will be hard to put down once you pick it up and start reading. Ms. Hohenstern has done a fabulous job developing characters you can care about, and writing a driving plot with suspense around every corner. I highly recommend this book.
