Item Description... You have in your hands a compelling story, a book of the miraculous, a book of undeniable transformation, hope, discovery, and identity. A story of how to come from nowhere to somewhere, that begins with degradation as two young boys (aged 15 and 16) come to terms with the oft harsh realities of life at sea in Her Majesty's Royal Navy of the 1970s era. With heartfelt honesty the story unfolds into one of abuse and self-abuse as one after another of imposed and self-imposed identities are stripped away making way for a transformation that led both men into Christian ministry. HMS LIFE is at the same time a piece of never-to-be-repeated history and a unique compilation of a dramatic real life story accompanied by a sound and detailed explanation of the incredible transformation that took place. It is proof that redemption and success can come to those who have walked a dangerous and wayward path. |

| HMS Life is a journey that defies the odds; disturbing yet enlightening, able to fill you with hope that even the most impossible situations can work for your advantage. To see two teenagers, one fifteen the other sixteen, both still wet-behind-the-ears, plunged into the harshness of life in the military as if it were everyday normal is a sobering experience. Forced to grow up quickly, their innocence is wrenched from them as they pursue the most primeval of instincts, survival. They use disguise after disguise to protect them from the excesses and abuses of life in the Royal Navy's fast lane. Intriguingly, the co-authors did not meet until years later, after both had become Christians and made the decision to become ministers. But their journey through life and in particular, the pain of their past, keeps them searching until they find the solution they'd been looking for all along; acceptance and love. Their theology is life-changing and beautifully articulated. I'm sure it'll change your life as it has mine. | | | Write your own review about HMS Life
