Item Description...
Product Description She insists a kindred spirit is watching and guiding her. His presence and hand inspire the entanglement of abstract art she draws that are his messages. The sweep of a charcoal pencil becomes her label of insanity until the day Victoria Donner disappears from the face of the earth. Unaware of her ability, Victoria inadvertently, through the creation of paranormal art, opens a doorway that takes her from the present back to 1943 where she comes face to face with the spirit that haunts her. There she must begin the circle of fate that gives him the ultimate reason, even in death, to never leave her side.

 | Entertaining story, poor editing Jun 2, 2004 |
| This is a story of a modern-day woman who is haunted by a spirit, and time-travels back to 1943 to meet (and fall in love with) the man who is haunting her. The book is slow to start, but speeds up and becomes a generally entertaining read with some very funny patches. Unfortunately, the plentiful editing errors, grammar errors, and bad writing often detract from the story and give the impression that the author slept through high school English. For example, the author inserts commas at random, uses "must of" instead of "must have" and "there" instead of "they're," and loves sounding like Yoda (e.g., "Impressed she was," "Abandoned he felt," "Angry I am."). The latter is the most irritating, and I found myself reading just to find the next Yoda-ism (usually within a page or two) rather than to absorb the story. | | | | An Engaging, Can't-Put-The-Book-Down Treat! I have never, in a very long, long time, so thoroughly enjoyed a book as I have this one! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Sgt. Robert Gillian is a gruff, angry soldier who is a loner and stationed on Fort Bragg in 1943. Victoria is a full-time writer in the late 90s. By way of a nostalgic song and some drawings, Victoria is swept back in time and delivered to Robert's bungalow on base. This is where the story captivates you.
This story is magical because of how Robert and Victoria grow to love one another. Robert, raised in an orphanage, with no exposure to parental love whatsoever, has a hard time accepting Victoria in his life; however, as you read through the pages, you discover that Robert is learning to love (and be loved) for the first time in his life. Victoria experiences difficulties of her own in having to adapt and understand Robert's tough, steely exterior. There are many disagreements and misunderstandings, due to their adjustment to each other.
Warning: This book has a lot of spelling and punctuation errors. Some people are put off by this entirely. Sometimes I am; HOWEVER, when you have a great story that stands apart from its flaws, it is sometimes worth the risk. I personally was able to look past the typographical errors and see the story for what it was -- magical, enjoyable, and memorable.
This will be a keeper on my bookshelf! | | | | Absolutely Wonderful Dec 11, 2001 |
| This book took me on an incredible journey back in time. It made me laugh, cry and left me with an all around warm & fuzzy feeling. At the same time, I became so engrossed in the story that I could not wait to turn the page as I followed the characters through the plot. | | | | Romance & Humor! A must read! Dec 6, 2001 |
| Very enjoyable read that took me into a supernatural, time travel romance, and had me laughing my head off at the same time. The smallest of things that will set me off at times, and in this one it was a specific character--Sabastian. When I discovered that Sabastian is based on a real person who experienced everything that he had in the novel--yes, everything from the psychics, the tire guy, the spirit, and sketches are true events--the far more enjoyable it was. Actually looked at the entire story in a different light. The time travel, of course, was fiction. If only it were not. Just fantazing a moment. A Letter to Sergeant Gillian is truly a FUN read! | | | Write your own review about A Letter To Seargeant Gillian
