THIS book is dedicated to lily brothers and to those who have been shore-shooting with me in Norfolk and elsehere, and those names in some cases appeal in the text. It is intended mainley for the editication of amateur collectors and shore-shooters, though it is possible that some, who have visited the authors bird collection in the Eastbourne Institute, may feel inclined to estend their acquaintance with the occupants of its cases by a perusal of these pages, in which mention is made of their capture. Some of the pictures also are intended to recall scenes in the collection. despite all that has been said against it, I venture to think that in this lusuious age of form of sport is mole deserving of encouragement than that which leads its votaries to face the hardships and discomforts which vill almost certainly be encountered by those who seek their- quarry along the shore....
