| I found this book to have an incredible amount of detailed information on the way early Americans lived. My children and I especially liked the informational pages on "How Butter Was Made", "How Pioneer Lived in Covered Wagons" and "How People Lived on Sailing Ships", among many others. | I love the concept of historical fiction, but this book has a little too much fiction. For each section, there is a fictional story, using fictional characters, set in a specific time period/event. This book focuses too much on the fictional accounts. It didn't hold my kids' attention.
